A practice planner for Alfred lesson materials
A student working across several books needs more than a page number. Alfred’s Basic Piano Course includes Lesson, Theory, Recital and Technic books; teachers may use a selection of these or other Alfred materials. The notebook can keep each reference clear without changing the teacher’s sequence.

Identify the book before the page
Write the full book name, level and page or exercise title in the assignment. Families may have several books with the same level on the cover, and editions can differ. A precise reference reduces the chance of practicing the wrong page and gives the next session a familiar starting point.
Connect the concept across tasks
When the teacher assigns related playing and written work, explain the connection in ordinary language. For example, a rhythm pattern discussed in the lesson might appear in a short piece and a theory task. Session notes can show whether the student recognized it in both settings, rather than recording only that both pages were opened.
An example week in the notebook

- Teacher assigns
- Use the exact Lesson Book page selected in class. Find the new rhythm, then complete the teacher-selected related Theory Book task.
- Student reports
- I could identify the rhythm on paper, but I paused before it when playing the piece from the start.
- Teacher reviews
- Hear the lead-in and connect the written rhythm to its place in the phrase before assigning more pages.
Before the next session
- Include the book name, level and edition if needed.
- Name the task as well as the page.
- Record where a written concept was hard to use while playing.
Are Alfred books included or automatically linked?
No. This is an independent planning workflow for materials you already use. Maestro Planner does not include publisher books, reproduce their lessons or automatically synchronize with Alfred products.
